Awakening

Awakening

Perhaps something inside me
Fell of the shelf
Of trying
I use to want to please everyone
Chased that so much
Didn’t even know how to please me
SMH

Life will always be happening
Whether we decide to live it or not
can’t let these dreams become idle
Running in this race
Overrun with rats
Sometimes I wanna just hide
Throw off my shoes
Escape to somewhere
Where there’s nothing to do
But write

Oh how that does entice me
Alluring world
away from
The movers and the shakers
All speeding by
Off to live their happy big shot lives
I'll sit here holding my penned pieces
Valuable little nuggets
Of mind’s gold
Awakening me
in increments
from a slumbered existence
