Awakening

I was just a boy running wild and free
Innocent quiet and naïve
She was a woman, lonely and blue
Teaching a boy to believe
She had a smile that lit up the night
Some of her life had been tragic
I could feel the warmth deep in my heart
The night carried its’ own type of magic
She filled my evening with starry-eyed dreams
A young boy discovering life
I saw the lightning, feeling the thunder
Piercing my heart like a knife
This was a moment etched in the depths of my mind
Remembering for all it was worth
That was the night she took me to heaven
Then brought me back gently to earth
We went back to heaven, pulled the stars from the sky
Danced with the fire and rain
Sometimes in my dreams I long for her touch
In my memory she'll ever remain

Magic in your words. You have brought real life memory to a stunning moving vision in our mind's eye which also makes our imagination soar. Captured and expressed so incredibly well. Enchanting and beautiful. Love, Shar

What a touching memory, Vince. Beautiful, nostalgia....and a treasure worth keeping...such a part of growing up. This poem reminded me a lot of the movie, "Summer of 42". A lovely write! ~God Bless~ Carrie
