Awakened
Awakened from my slumber
Every living night
Endless thoughts encumber
What I know is right
My mind is truly crowded
More and more each day
Before it gets all clouded
I need to slip away
Where could I go racing
Without misery and strife
Pain is always chasing
Endless in my life
I guess I'll just keep running
Farther every day
And hope I still am shunning
The Devil who must play
I know I should be thrilled
My mind is clearing out
The fact is I'm so chilled
I just want to shout
If this be my millstone
I will bear the weight
There needs to be a new tone
To tempt the hand of fate
All I have been trying
Has not made a dent
If this pain keeps flying
I'll be old and bent
I will keep on staying
In spite of all that comes
The Devil's always playing
As I run from his drums
I wish he does not see
As I try to run away
I pray to God to hide me
At least for just one day
I hope my prayers are given
Though they were right from the start
And so my mind is driven
You have all my heart
I know it's getting lighter
Every single day
I'll pull the covers tighter
But will never go away
You have my word in this my love
I will be ever at your side
For we are like a hand and glove
That never shall divide
One thing I left to say
Before I reach the end
With you I'll forever stay
I love you my best friend
