Awake To Put Myself Back To Sleep

For the first
In a long while
Awake
With my eyes open

They close
To savour
The last of the memories
Between you and I.

Yet they flash back open
To see the true light
And how
He is essentially better for me.

Yet I still get flustered
When we call
Yet I still feel like you
Are for me.

I see a fine line
One that divides what is
From what could be
Or rather, what could’ve been.

And I can’t
Imagine what you feel
Anymore
So I must lie
To myself
About how it all ended.

I must cover up the truth
To move on
Cover up the truth
To be happy
With somebody
Who is essentially better for me.
