Ava

People always tell me,

“You are so strong”. I think to myself, self, are we strong?

I slink at the comment as my inner persona shrieks.

If I am strong why do I feel so weak?

So tired?

So…

Wrong

So

Hmm…how to put it?

Like, everything I am supposed to be; but with darkness mixed in between

And dreams wasted on me

A life not meant for tales of torment and woe

Yet they follow me wherever I go

“WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!?” I yell but no one looks up to see

They are oblivious to the fact that I am silently dying

Like I am merely miming the version of myself that I am meant to be

But underneath, my parts are rusting, and I am not me.

“NOT ME AT ALL!”

I shriek and I shrike as She takes over

When She gains control that is when I get the loudest

Barely loud enough for people to now notice

The bowed heads, impenetrable now raise as my voice begins to shake

I am on top of a remarkably high sea and misery is within me calling to end this suffering

Its too late now though…

The tides call to me like a siren’s song

Waiting to eat its prey within the salty depths of this internal hellish scape

And here I lay

I wait…

Whispering like a softness then like a storm made of all the 7 seas

She calls to me--desolation and destruction her middle names

The name of the woman I so loathe to be

Ava the girl that is but is not me
