Autumnal Pantoum
The autumnal leaves keep falling,
with their colours fading fast.
When winter’s cold comes calling,
their beauty will not last.
With their colours fading fast,
leaves lie heavy on the grass,
their beauty will not last,
as autumnal days soon pass.
Leaves lie heavy on the grass,
having drifted ankle deep:
as autumnal days soon pass,
when Nature goes to sleep.
Having drifted ankle deep,
they’re a blanket for the soil,
when Nature goes to sleep,
to rest from daily toil.
They’re a blanket for the soil,
to keep winter’s cold at bay,
to rest afrom daily toil,
until Spring returns our way,
to keep winter’s cold at bay.
When winter’s cold comes calling,
until Spring returns our way:
the autumnal leaves keep falling.
