Autumn Walk
Autumn Walk
I step into the open and feel the fall air on my face
A chill has settled that was not there yesterday
I welcome it and pull my collar closer
As I set off upon my morning walk
I note the colors that the trees are painted
And marvel at the kaleidoscope that nature provides
I pause to listen to the music of the leaves
As they steel them-selves against the gusting breeze
I walk quickly, my gait strong and steady
There is something about fall that lifts my spirit
Autumn to me is not a season ended
Instead, a prelude to another yet to come
I wander where I wish, with no planned destination
Following a path prescribed only by me
The forests and meadows beckon and I respond
Observing everything as if never seen before
I revel in the beauty that surrounds me
And cast my eyes at the ice blue sky above
I give thanks for the joy that has been cast upon me
As I tread further into fall with every step
