Autumn Store

The saddest season, when things end,
autumn, generates a frenzy
from small animals each hoping
to stash enough to tide them through.

Winter chill follows hard behind
the saddest season when things end,
the hidden nuts feed the careful
ones who recall where is the store.

Uncertain memories give hope
of nurture and nourishment past
the saddest season, when things end,
followed by cold, but life goes on.

A son next to a cancer bed,
going through all the old tales
reinforcing his memories for
the saddest season, when things end.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your autumn thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
