Autumn Sings a Hymnal Song

Waning sunlight casts shadows across bare branched trees whose leaves silently tumble, carpeting the ground Autumn murmurs with gentle taps on my window I breathe a sigh in consensual reply acknowledging the beauty of her creation Nimbus clouds gather in twilight skies to brush sloping hills a shade of purple haze I hear the lonesome call of an owl's sad lament He sits in a loblolly pine, hoping to attract a mate A pastoral scene being painted before my eyes Drifting through maples Autumn sings a hymnal song in farewell to crimson leaves Cloaked in gloaming mist Fall grows weary for slumber as Winter's approach draws nigh October 11, 2021 Let's Mix It Up Contest Sponsor: Constance La France Poem 3 is a Choka. Jenna, I love the autumn mood you set with the careful placement of shadows, clouds, and bare branches, capped by an owl's lonesome call. Beautiful painting with words. Also, the picture you chose is perfect with its fall colors framed by purple hills, looming clouds and gloaming mist. You are such an artist - going in my faves ~ John

This is beautiful and puts my entry to shame. Most of what you wrote were in my mind but could not put pen to paper. Best for a win. Hugs.

You mixed it up well Jenna, capturing autumn in all its glory, I've been under the weather with high temp and sore throat, slowly getting on the mend now, done covid test and it was negative. Hope you're well. Tom

Oh no, Tom. I'm sad that you've been ill, and yesterday I was wondering why you seemed a bit late with your comments. I'm relieved that you tested negative. My diagnosis is that you have kitchenitis from your remodeling, and you're going to make a full recovery!!
