Autumn Leaves Are Falling

Autumn Leaves are Falling

By Elton Camp

It is at this season every year,
Praise of leaves I begin to hear:
“In them I take such a delight.
Red and yellow, oh what a sight.”

Such praise I cannot give
In the place where I live.
When fall comes around,
Leaves here just turn brown.

It doesn’t give me any thrill
They will fall and gutters fill.
Into the yard they float down
And make a mess all around.

Those who for fall leaves so care
And dote on their beauty too rare,
Aren’t the ones who have to rake
And end up with arms that ache.

Hi Elton,A mixture of feelings here.Yes Autumn leaves look beautiful on the trees. But can be a hazard when they fall-excuse the pun, purely unintentional- to the ground especially when it's been raining. If your arms ache why don't you invest in one of those garden vacuums and hoover them up.Mind you I can guarantee by the time you go back indoors your garden will look as though you have'nt touched it.Nature having the last laugh.Like your poetry does. And I love it. Love June(sylvia)
