Autumn Leaf
Falling
Gliding
Tumbling slowly
Cast adrift to trip and skip
at the wind's will.
Floating, motionless
on air waves.
Tossed in a torrent
of swift surrender,
a last brief shaft of life
that ends quietly
underfoot
