Autumn Farmers

Most of this year's harvest is done.
There are three major crops in my area.
We have corn, soy beans, and cotton.
All but the cotton has been harvested.

On this mild weathered Autumn night,
From my front window I watched the rapidly
pouring rain, and Assisted by the night lights,
I observed the trees and rain drops and noticed
that there was very little wind flow.

I thought about the whited fields of
cotton not yet gathered as my heart
went out for the farmers, without
whom we neither eat nor dress.
