Autumn and Summer

Stray birds come to my window
Like my thoughts come to my mind
They sit, sing and fly away
Sometimes leave a feather
  As a token of remembrance,
Like my thoughts leave behind-
 Their footprints upon my soul;

Yellow leaves fall down
And the tree becomes empty
There’s a hush in the air
A profound stillness, dust of dejection
Then whisper of the breeze
Wind flutters the fallen leaves
An evening fades away and-
Stands a silent tree;

Music plays slowly upon my soul
It creates a barricade against all chaos
Blossoms like summer flowers
Live within me, wanders in my heart
Ask me to be free-
 Like the morn of summer
 Like teeming autumn
 Like the breath of life, like sleep of death.
