She was a gentle soul Who saw the worst And endured it quietly The man she loved Was cruelly taken away Left to raise two children She always had a smile Wanting the best for others Living a long life A matriarch to all. © Paul Warren Poetry Paying homage to an ordinary woman who lost her husband after the Great War due to being gassed on the Western Front.
