August 26th

I can hear your voice on the other end of the phone,
Weak in places and trembling;
I know you’re trying to keep it together
Because I’m doing exactly the same thing.
I don’t understand any more either.
Why does it never seem worth it?
When I’ve worked so hard for other things
And have that wide open future waiting…
Moments of madness take over
And I forget.
