Notes About The Poem

Audible Sighs

a setting sun
ends its run
the day's done,
darkness won
night's begun
everyone
but my son
leaves one by one.

gazing up at night's starry skies
through a five-year-old's eyes,
he starts to fantasize
for stars look like fireflies,
and watching the moon rise
triggers audible sighs
for as things normalize;
shooting stars renew his surprise.

Ahhh!! A shooting star! I have only seen two that I can remember in my lifetime so that had to be a thrill. Way to go with this winner. Congratulations. Sara

Emile...I simply do not know how you come up with these superb pieces when responding to a contest. This is absolutely superb, and I know we'll see it at or near the top! Your choice of the monorhyme was excellent.
