Attention
They never let us forget our meds.
Meds were everything.
And everything was ok.
Today I remembered-
My phone.
My purse.
My keys.
Now that I’m out of the hospital…
I’m allowed to go to the grocery store.
When I forget my meds,
I search my purse frantically in public.
The stares are real.
The embarrassment is real.
It’s all very real.
I usually don’t forget! I usually don’t forget!
Don’t take me back!
Attention shoppers! Attention shoppers!
That’s me, I’m a shopper.
I run out before they can take me away.
