Atmospheric Pressure
Atmosphere stratified over billions of years
Envelopes the Earth with protective layers
Saves the life from damaging solar radiation
Controls the climate and its spatial variation
Burns meteorites or asteroids on their course
So the Earth doesn’t become another Mars.
Mountain peaks pierce invisible atmosphere
Air pressure becomes less and less up there
Clouds surge sink slow in low-pressure trough
Descend as rain and snow with winds rough
The air becomes thin with oxygen depletion
Climber’s heart struggles albeit in jubilation.
Let life lying low become the mountain high
Rise over dreary atmosphere to touch the sky
Reach the stratum where the pressure is low
You will unburden life leaving the load below
Ecstasy clouds would enter mind at elevation
Melt in your heart as rain of blissful exaltation.
