Atmosphere

I knew from the moment he locked eyes with me as he stared from across the room, He wouldn't take his eyes off me, examining my every move, I sensed his fear from the beginning, the rules of cautiousness in the atmosphere he knew, That strangled his heart from being open, because I had the same feeling in that room, He confirmed my feelings of discomfort without even saying a word, He opened my eyes to the injustice he felt, internally I felt my heart move, I stayed as long as I could for him, knowing opinions would drown out his decisions, I sat quietly as I knew the influence was strong, yet my heart stayed for his provision, I couldn't explain the feelings I had, overwhelming to keep him safe, I buried my own feelings, and took the brunt of the jokes, but I knew it was not a mistake, Because I knew one day when I make it to heaven everything will be clear, And he'll be able to see the love I held for him, and it never mattered what happened here.
