Atmosphere

The lone caterpillar
quiescent inside the cocoon
felt no thrill,
did not wish
to emerge from it
as a colorful butterfly
spreading her wings wide
showing her beauty .
For the flowers don’t bloom
around her,
atmosphere foul and corrupt
filled with gloom .
She preferred to linger
in deep slumber's embrace
inside the cocoon ,
not yet transformed
in a world so corrupt.
