Beautiful words, Gershon. The unknown soldier known to Hashem. Shalom for all of your days.

A high price, indeed. One most Democrats are no longer willing to pay. Some Republicans too. We lost our edge when we 'waxed fat' in the post WW2 and Vietnam years. Pity... Here come the Prussian Russians, the Siamese Chinese, the Russlin' Muslims, and Little Rocket Man Kim. ~ At our doorstep...

what a poignant poem, dear Gershon. I agree how does one explain the inexplicable horror of war, the loss of lives, and the how's and why's of what men to men. More than hard.

I don't know. To me, freedom has always required great sacrtifice and cost of lives. Americans have 'waxed fat and sassy,' forgetting the price we've always paid. The Russians, Chinese, Muslims, and N. Koreans are the ravenous Huns at our doorstep.' They're hungry, unlike us.
