At Night

I like to walk the streets at night
To see how things are lit so bright
I like to give someone a fright
Yes in the darkness they excite
The night then comes alive
I like to watch how people act
As they engage or just react
I truly do that is a fact
At night it is how I survive

I think of all the things undone
I ponder over battles won
I think of heroes gone unsung
I think of old and also young
Each night then comes alive
Some times I think of all I do
Not just for me but also you
As night then breaks with morning dew
Each night it is how I survive

I sometimes write at night til dawn
When inspiration is my bond
My juices flow in ways so fond
As I delight with evening drawn
This night then comes alive
I write and write of things so dear
Of things in past that are so clear
The words I write are like a mirror
This night it is how I survive

I chat with friends who share my views
I talk with others about the news
I play a game to win or lose
I go to church and sit on pews
Some nights it is where I arrive
At times I think what might take place
If all goes right and I've got grace
My mind may even start to race
Some nights it is where I arrive

Some nights I think I am with her
The one who makes my heart to stir
I hear hers beat it's like a purr
I wish that this would soon occur
At night she'd make me come alive
This lady that I so desire
Has made my thoughts to be on fire
Each thing about her I admire
A night with her I would survive
