At Night

I do not want my dreams
Because they are not where I come
from
I do not want to go to my nightmares
Because I dread them
My eyes want to shut down
But I quickly open them

And as I lie on my bed
In the darkness of the night
The sound of the crickets I hear
Are like an introduction to my
nightmares
I can't shut my ears
And they can't shut their mouths

I do not fear the night
I do not hate sleep
I do not dislike the crickets' sounds
But I dread my nightmares
And I don't want my dreams
