At Gunpoint

Everything flashes like a slideshow,
your faculties refuse to comprehend.
Aborted chances, lost opportunities--
a stretched truth of an endless nightmare.

Justice-hungry innards hammer inside,
a perpetual defiance mounting.
seething emotion turning to stark emptiness,
misery gnawing from trumped-up promises.

Hope-starved and shackled by iniquity,
tears flood deep into your soul.
Fears and regrets grip your heart,
your stifled screams remain unheard.

Gouged, grated,
stripped down to nakedness...
you take one last breath of freedom;
before the shadows of greed
usurp the lifeblood from your veins.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
