At Dinner In Chicago In January

Mommy, is 'snow' a four-letter word?
  No, darling, but 'shut-up' is
But mommy, 'shut-up' has six letters
I'm so glad you're doing well in school, dear...

Oh, my goodness. Six letters teachers are never supposed to say together, and yet, parents do use it. Unless they teach. - right? I had not thought of "shut up" for a long time, as it is so outlawed at school. They are so fearful we might use it on parents at conference time.

I would think given the weather you are presently enduring that “snow” is in every sense a 4-letter word ;)

Hi Gershon Really enjoyed this. It covered a lot of territory in a short time. Panagiota Romios

Such a perceptive comment, Panagiota! You glimpsed directly into my mind and heart, as that's exactly what I set out to do (i.e., cover a lot of territory in four lines)… Thank you for your kind words. Best wishes, Gershon

Appreciate your comment and support, Harry. It tells me that you have a clue to our currently clueless world. LOL. It probably was ever aye. We just wax sentimental on how good things used to be, eh?! Best wishes, gw

Poor mommy! At least you should get warmer weather soon, according to the news broadcast-

Kids are so smart these days, you feel inadequate when they say " didn't you know that" lol . Tom.

You're so right, Tom. What my granddaughters used to say as little kids just astounded me. So prescient, they were... ~ Gershon

Hi Gershon, What an interesting conversation at the dinner table. Is this a true story? That was a clever way for the mom to find out if the child was retaining things taught in school. I enjoyed the read:-) Alexis
