At death of night
At death of night
I gazed at the stars above,
and took a silent path;
No whisper nor chatter
But a quiet soulful oath,
To love thee in silence.
Thee, I confessed not,
So no heart shall be broken.
'Tis a lonesome path of love,
Chose I, at the death of night;
While cricket sang and stars shone above,
This shall stand till I bow my head to death.
