Ashes

Sifting ashes from a brass urn
They fall from my fingertips
As the last goodbye falls from my lips
Tears draining from a well within
I never knew i had
Ashes that do your smile injustice
Ashes that can never again be kissed
I set you free from the mountaintop
Your last wish sails away in the mountians mist,
My lover, my best friend.
The better half of my heart
Forever missed.

Hello Carl, I'm really admiring the way you went deep with the image during your poem. Almost long the image in a movie called "30 days of night" well without the whole vampire thing going on. I felt the love leave you like ashes when they fly into the wind... a sad thing the word ashes... hope you are well....always your friend LINDA
