As We Enter Fall

Laying on my back at the top of Knob Hill
Trees sprayed around me, like fingers to the sun
Looking at the sky, clouds billowy white
My body lies still while my mind wants to run.

This moment of peace, provides beauty serene
A sense of completion, while void of thought
Simply, I lie here if only but to dream
While images of beauty, in my eyes, are caught.

The sounds of the children, who play in the park
The train whistle blows, a warning to all
The leaves that were hanging to their last bit of life,
By breezes, now adorn me, as we enter Fall.

The temperature lowers a bit every day
The crispness of air proves healthy for all
While I lie still watching, two squirrels gath’ring nuts
I’m thankful for this time, as we enter Fall.
