As the Years Go By
When very young, you looked ahead
Games often filled your sleepy head
When planning what you’d do today
You’ll play, cos fun was on the way.
Then, come the changes as you grow
You’re climbing ladders as you go
By growing up, and working hard
You get a home, and mow the yard!
Finally, quiet times roll around
As retirement days you are bound
Stop looking out, start looking in
For now, a new life will begin…
Morning legs are slow to walk
Sometimes you’re too tired to talk
Must be careful what you eat
As old age you are forced to greet!
Doctors say you must slow down
That is when you start to frown!
Pull yourself up by the ruff
Show them all, you have the stuff!
Face your fears, as come they will
Life need not be a bitter pill
Tho years may show upon your face
Wisdom they cannot erase!
