As the Wind Blows

The strong wind blows wildly today As masses of green trees sway Just like the flames burning cities In our country atrocities Attacked within, anger explodes With violence, our country implodes Business destroyed, our flag burned Violence spreads where hatred is churned Police cars in flames, stations gone Chaos in front of white house lawn Graffiti left everywhere Vile words written without a care Churches, courts and historic sites No law and order, flashing lights Wreckage in multiple places Torn down cities, crying faces Justice twisted into revenge By thousands who want to avenge The strong wind blows wildly today Turning our country into dismay It is hard to recognize now An attack we can’t stop, somehow As the wind blows, I wonder why Healing takes so long, when we try Heidi Sands 5/31/20

Great poem Heidi. When the thugs rule the streets...ah...how happy will our fellow Anericans be? Dial- A-Thug will not work. I would take my grandson to task if he stole something on the grounds that his friends had more. Pure nonsense, Want equality? Try Cuba or Communist China. No freedom. But everyone is equally poor. Not for me PRxoxo

Thank you Panagiota. This is no longer a protest. It is anarchy and an attack from within. And a war on police to fulfill their agenda. They have actually taken over 6 blocks of Seattle. The police dept , city hall, putting fencing around it, armed. What is happening to our country is unacceptable. Take care :)

Hi Heidi, unfortunately however, there is an inequality and the poor don't have access to the same privileges that we have, this being everywhere in the world, not just America. Hi Heidi, There are far more good police than evil police. Our city is going to be attacked tomorrow by wild groups who do Not even live here. Supported by stations like CNN who then broadcast untruths to the world about my country Everything will calm down...I have faith. There are millions of Americans that are good. One policeman's actions doesn't justify all the destruction. He was a rookie cop.the other three were also. All are in jail. Panagiota xoxo

Your poignant words have said it all my friend and like you I just cannot comprehend how cruel and evil some people can be. The poor man who died so publically pleading for his breath ~ his life ~ and yet no one would save him ~ barbaric! Why oh why? Very well written Heidi on such a heartbreaking subject. Hi Ann. There are reports he was diagnosed with Covid weeks prior too. It is really going into chaos here. Not all police are bad, even though , I know ones who were. This rioting needs to stop. Extremists infiltrated protests, attacking our country. People are assaulted and killed, veterans graves destroyed, police over run. Thank you for your kind comment and taking the time to respond. Will Herberg once wrote, "Democracy is predicated not on faith in man but on the conviction that no man is good enough or wise enough to be entrusted with irresponsible power over his fellow-men." Dark days ahead because a mindless policeman committed an outrageous crime by taking the life of an innocent man. Justice should prevail so as this wild fire of indignation is put out. For Demetrios..all are in jail.under American justice, a grand jury comes first, after that a trial. Jurists have to be chosen that are fair minded. A person is judged guilty by a jury. Not by mobs who want instant justice. They are rioting by aid for protestors from Antifa and BLM. Many will die and go broke..people can't buy food or get meds as these idiots burn Down cities. We have lived through lunatic looting before. We will survive Panagiota xoxo

You (and I) are idealists, Heidi. All these demonstrations are paid for and staged by left-wing professionals, utililizing eager criminals, whose sole aim is to get Donald J. So sad to see what's going on Heidi, I can understand the anger but burning businesses and vehicles of innocent people who were not involved beggars belief. Many so called protesters are just using that poor man's death as an excuse to loot and commit crime knowing they'll get away with it. Tom
