As the Child Watches On

Today, I am lost for words
Horrified at your recent behavior
Your anger and bile uncensored
As the child watches on

Today, I am sad at myself
For my lack of motivation
To end all of this madness
As the child watches on

Today, I am feeling lonely
Though alone is what I crave
My face is now hang dog
As the child watches on

Today, I am not present
I have withdrawn to regroup
There is no part of me open
As the child watches on

Today, I am feeling anxious
At change I know must come
Somewhere there is spirit inside
As the child watches on
