As Snow Descends

I watch as white falls from the heights
Where clouds of grey control the sky
The ground below no longer dry
As snow descends into our sights

The April air no longer warm
For winter rears it's blizzard head
The grip of spring for now is shed
As snow descends upon the farm

Within an hour the ground is gone
Three inches fallen but stills comes more
What once was green now a white floor
As snow descends long after dawn

The hours pass and snowing still
The city comes to screeching halt
For ice now coats all the asphalt
As snow descends upon the hills

A foot of snow as day turns night
And finally now the snow slows down
A silent white is to be found
As snow descends no more tonight

Plows are out and shovels in hand
A breath of life the new day brings
The people out to do their things
As snow descends upon new lands
