As She Whispered

As she whispered to me that day
I'm sorry, I don't feel that way
Slipping away into the night
Didn't know how to feel, just quite

Thinking back to the time she'd say
As she whispered to me that day
I'm not ready for love right now
To myself I have made this vow

I may have push a bit too far
But she shone so bright, like a star
As she whispered to me that day
How she trusts me in every way

Let us be friends she said to me
Though pained and hurt, I did agree
Bittersweet, when she looked away
As she whispered to me that day
