As Quiet as a Shadow
She was as quiet as a shadow
on the floor
Though she heard the voice
Of those who would implore
She'd answer in a nod
Or in near whisper
A shadow in the wake of every
Sister
Her face was always buried
In a page
Where her spirit sought the Muses
Who'd engage
Her voice aligned somehow in
Universe
Where she could speak her words
Now verse by verse
As quiet as a shadow, lest a script
A personality to an actress
A sweet gift
Then she would come alive and have
A voice
Choosing carefully her parts
A precious choice
And her hand was always nearest to
A pen
Where her silent voice poured out
Again, again
Nobody could steal that voice
From her
The gift that wrapped her in
The Muses cure
Muse brought her a gift of
Sweetest balm
A gift within a storm
That ushered calm
Then her quiet shadow danced
Inside the door
Though quiet, never voiceless
Evermore
