Notes About The Poem

As Nike Says

Wrestling with two options without cease;
Your heart and mind at loggerheads.
Stuck between the rubicon of "Do" and "Don't!"
One flip of a coin lands erect in the dirt.
Now what? Take a chance; do as Nike says.

A sharp, compact verse that captures the paralysis of indecision with wit and vivid imagery. The “rubicon” and upright coin brilliantly convey a choice suspended in impossible balance, while the Nike ending gives the poem a decisive, uplifting snap.
