she had youth on her side
and couldn't care less
the world at her feet
oblivious to what's out there
perhaps lurking in the dark
like rose-coloured lenses her filters
paint for her a contorted reality
and she smiles and she laughs
almost delirious in her delusion
nothing we could or should say
we just watch holding our breath
