As In the Films
Amid her degraded miserable life
in the red light area
she hummed the songs
of the hindi films;
looking at her image in the mirror
dreamt herself as the heroine
of a romantic movie
opposite to her favorite star.
Sometimes, she copying the dialogues
and gestures of the heroines
from the romantic scenes
of the popular movies.
She fancied herself
as a courtesan she saw in a film
whose songs captivated
a rich kind hearted Babu.
Filmy romantic thoughts
in her youthful life
in the red light district
sometimes comforting her.
