As I Wait For the World To Change

Waiting for the world to change But change, it does not. As I open a magazine Turn on the TV All I am faced with Is hunger, fear, and hate The look in a hungry child’s eyes Is more than I can bear to see The fear on the woman’s face Not knowing where she will go How she will feed Those hungry mouths And the hate so evident Across the sand and seas. I bow my head And raise my hands As I wait For the world to change.
