As I Lay Me Down To Sleep
As I lay me down to sleep
Body and muscles aching from tiredness
Eyes longing to shut, needing sleep to help them relax.
Arms feeling numb from working, fingers wishing just to wrap themselves around a pillow.
Feet so wanting to stretch out, to stop moving,
Tired feet so badly needing a rub, yearning that soothing massaging touch.
As I lay me down to sleep
These eyes of mine continue to peep.
Oh, sleep, why have you eluded me,
leaving me to float in the depths of exhaustion.
Longing to rest this weary body of mine,
In this soft comfort of elution,
As I lay me down to sleep.
