As Darkness Abideth
Asked, withered, worn and broken,
for that which I should have done.
Words fell to silence, yet spake
through eyes that damned the sun.
What is regret, now fractured
by the waning of the light?
What remaineth unspoken,
worthy of the night?
Shall I break in mournful sorrow,
where memory rends my soul?
Shall I weep for love departed,
forever beyond my hold?
Or lift mine eyes to this life
as it ebbeth away?
Read in the shadow the measure
of heaven or hell,
as darkness abideth to stay.
