As Age Goes By

things are never they used to be
the courage I once had
that wins admiration by others
now turns to prudence and cautiousness
that makes some think cowardice

the urge to be the center of all
now content in being in the background
silent but of help
effective yet other doesn't mind

my mind says
make me believe i still have it
but then he command this vessel what to do
as hard as he tried the body works harder - it fails yet sometimes it triumph with a glimps of our past

the tumultuous wave of the sea
had turn into soothing and steady flows like of the lake
stubbornness, folly and energy
had turn into wisdom, patience and humility

as age goes by
things are never the same again
and yet in the end
fulfillment is ours
if we handle ourselves
with dignity, pride and grace
