Artichokes in Season

The leaves refuse to give way. I peel them one by one, dragging my teeth across their edges, slurping, tasting the work required to get to a heart.

Oh man, it's been a long time since I've had an artichoke. You describe it well. I love them. You remind me that I need to vary my grocery list once in a while. Nice poem!

I would eat more artichokes if the process wasn't so difficult. I love your poem. More vegetables should get recognition.
