Art Is Subjective

I love this painting; it reminds me of my grandmother’s apron.
I see her kitchen and smell fresh chocolate chip cookies.
Another despises it;
It reminds her of being raped when she was four.
The wallpaper on her Uncle’s walls.
She smells him.
Art is subjective.

That is so true, and so well put, Caren. Two people look at the same and come up with different conclusions...most depending upon their personal experiences. And it is true not only of paintings, but poetry, and other creative arts, too.

It is true of everything; memory, smells, glimpses of a person you loved or despised, it all adds up in every corner of your life.
