Arrogance
You frown with disapproval since you have a pedigree.
Born in the USA, you say, ancestors crossed the sea.
Proud of your German heritage, and I am just a hick.
Your phony pearls, your knock-off bag, you always look real slick.
You treat me like I'm nothing with your nose turned up so far.
I'd rent that space if in the need of a place to park my car.
But a shiny cover does not value always quite equate.
I'm sure your "antique" silverware is only silver plate.
No, value comes from something more that's hidden deep inside.
It's born of love and empathy, not silly, baseless pride.
It doesn't come in just one color, an accent or a creed
Hitler was rich but I'd rather come from Cesar Chavez' seed!
So I'd rather have an ice cold beer with a gifted Mexican
Instead of drinking coffee in the cafes of Berlin!
