Arrogance
Sitting tight on the cover in confident composure.
Ebbed eyes, laden in power to enrapture.
Joy-riding the time’s waves of rhythm.
Oh! The choking slant of that smile.
Men have weathered worthier charms.
Suffered the soft probes of valleys laid bare.
Salutations? To the insane, O! sanity.
Tributes, to the uncultured raving passion?
Driving those charged heartbeats, in wild ripples.
‘Love and war’ enthralled by nanosecond formats.
Leg wear, meshed like the skin in mourning black.
Drape of flowers falling free in desperation.
Not again, battle of wits, let us be friends.
Here, I peep with baffled eyes, helpless.
The battle rages, and I must beat the retreat.
Or face court-martial of the mind for desertion.
