Arrival of Spring

Spring had arrived
with the return of flocks
from the south
new nests being built
in the barren shrubs
as leaves are in bud form
providing no hiding place
crows and hawks
search for food
gulls squawking
diving for any scraps
grass barely turning green
insects barely seen
a forlorn brown sight
the rain remains absent
to rejuvenate the land
into a green wonderland.
