Are You There, God

I close my eyes
   and wait...
I'm listening, praying,
   holding out, holding on,
   patient, striving, longing,
   struggling to find you
       peeking in the shadows,
       leaving no leaf unturned,
       awed by the magic of this world;
but still I am wanting
to know you, see you, recognize you;
   to understand the how,
   and the whys
   and the wherefores
       of my being
       of my very existence
       of this life I have.
I have searched
   and am still in active pursuit
   desiring to find you,
   looking everywhere
        in the light,
        in the dark
        in the in-betweens of living.
I am looking for you God
   my eyes tight closed
   and waiting, reaching out
   longing to feel and touch you
        are you here
        are you listening
        are you there, God?
Then why not answer me?
