born was i once into a home that was lost emptiness filled the void where no one knew how to dance food water shelter that was all that was given under the pretense of "love" gone was the man to work...to drink gone was the woman in her mind gone was the boy in his own pity someone said i was "the apple of..." someone's eye does that have meaning was i to be consumed as an apple is eaten food for eyes explain man called dad you know me not woman called mother: guilt is her name you taught me how to get beaten and take it well you taught me how to be a good girl a slave you taught me how to obey do you hate that i think is that why you never talked to me is it the questions i ask does my existence bother you why are you alive
