Are You a Poet

So true. I feel like an impostor amongst true writers.

I love it, Alexis. I don't have a clue either. I think my reasoning would be something close to this: I am; therefore, I write. I write; but I like to write short ditties. I write short ditties; therefore, I am a poet or a song-writer.... Ciao, Gershon

There is something that rings very true in what you say. I have been writing poetry for years and years, but I never called myself a poet, however after I joined Poetry soup, and we are called international poets, I felt it was time to use the title, and I must admit, it feels good, but whether I deserve the title of poet or not, I don't know. My fellow poets are the judge of that. However I know what a beautiful poetess you are as your writes are straight from the heart Hugs and blessings my dear friend, Jennifer.

A great love of poetry, coupled with a deep desire to express heartfelt emotions, thoughts and ideas through poetry-I suppose that makes a poet. But then, I'm just guessing. Best wishes, Evelyn :=)

I didn’t consider myself a poet until I read and studied poetry, until writing was in my blood. I like what Jenna Logan said, so true!

...a poet...a figurative bard...composer of metric and verse...and, a symbolic writer of lyric and rhyme of words letters colors shapes numbers etc as an artist in time... poets seek a dynamic order of mind....i think...therefore i...am a poet...stan sand

If something you see or hear makes you want to write about it...you're a poet. If you end sentences in rhyme after writing a rhyming poem, you're either a poet or need help. I often need help! haha Nicely written, Alexis.

Good one, Alexis! Poets really vary in expression. It's a potpourri of so many factors. I ask myself the same. There is nothing complex in some of the best poets of our times or in the past. Take a haiku, one need not be The Bard to write one. I like your poem. Quite down to earth. Pangie
