April's Reminiscence
Loyal a whisper intrudes the day
When hope does wither like a dying rose
Yet love would grace my heart to sway
Into a nectar'd dream of soft repose.
Where your slender hands like lilies
Would storm my face to pluck the tears
And your kiss like the Zephyr breeze
In blackest night disarms the fears.
A whispering memory of your love
It springs sweet my morning hours
Like pleasant birds and scented flowers
That may lip my heart to prove.
That your precious love still lingers deep
When all is lost and hope expires
And solitude are the spoils of my keep
Your budding love and light aspires.
My soul to leap and touch the stars
To kiss the moon and hold the sun
To tread the course and endless bars
Of divinity and beyond.
Tho' you're far away into a sleeping land
Where the smiling rose may bud no more
Where the breathing sun may fail to rise
Or the tender doves to soar.
A glorious scene my heart remains
For God's pulsing blisses soft
Would crown my days and life redeem
From stagnant hope and loss
In love's momentous dream!
